Green Hawaiian Tropic Smoothie

Green Tropic Smoothie

In my research I’ve learned that pineapple has anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits so since I love smoothies and pineapple, I’d thought I’d create a really good tasting green smoothie and share it with my detoxers and you, if you wanted to add a detox smoothie to your diet this spring. It’s a green smoothie, of course, and if you were to drink it blind-folded you would think it was a Pina-Colada. Yes, it’s that good.

Here’s why I decided to include it in the program, take a look at the benefits of the ingredient list for detoxing.

PINEAPPLE BENEFITS:

  1. Anti-inflammatory Action – Pineapple is very much known for its anti-inflammatory properties which prevent inflammation in arthritis patients and gives strength to the bones.
  2. Digestion – Bromelain, vitamin C and dietary fiber are abundantly present in pineapples which promote digestion.
  3. Atherosclerosis & Heart Health – Powerful antioxidants keep free radicals away and lower the cholesterol levels, preventing heart disease and prevents cell damage. These antioxidants help protect you from diseases like atherosclerosis, heart diseases, arthritis, various cancers etc.

CHIA SEED BENEFITS:

  1. Help weight loss – Chia seeds are popular for weight loss. They reduce food cravings by preventing some of the food that you eat from getting absorbed into your system. This blockage of calorie absorption makes them a great diet helper.
  2. Feel fuller faster – They can also help your diet by making you feel full. This is because they absorb 10 times their weight in water, forming a bulky gel.
  3. Omega-3 – They are the richest plant source of Omega-3 (the vital fats that protect against inflammation—such as arthritis—and heart disease). In fact, they contain more Omega-3 than salmon!

PARSLEY BENEFITS:

  1. Parsley is rich in many vital vitamins, including Vitamin C, B 12, K and A. This means parsley keeps your immune system strong, tones your bones and heals the nervous system, too.
  2. It helps flush out excess fluid from the body, thus supporting kidney function.
  3. Use parsley daily, and you’ll feel relief from joint pain. That’s because the herb has anti-inflammatory properties.

KALE BENEFITS:

  1. Supports the body’s detoxification process and acts as an anti-inflammatory
  2. Lowers blood pressure and cholesterol
  3. Alkalizing to the body
  4. Helps boost immunity and antioxidant defense system that protects you from damaging free radicals which cause disease.

What’s Required?

  • 1 c unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 frozen pineapple (I cut up fresh and freeze it)
  • 1/2 c green grapes
  • Handful of Parsley
  • Handful of Kale or Spinach
  • Handful of coconut flakes
  • 2 ice cubes

How To Prepare?

  1. Add all ingredients into blender as noted above.
  2. Blend in high speed blender. I use Vitamix on high, #7
  3. Pour and Serve.
  4. Top with Coconut Flakes.
  5. Drink and Enjoy!

I added one of my favorite socks, I <3 U, to the glass as a little extra self-love and daily affirmation.
